They thought I’d be sleepy – Tinubu thanks ADC for keeping him awake

Abuja — President Bola Tinubu expressed gratitude to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during a gathering of supporters from the CityBoy Movement and the Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN) group on Monday. His remarks came in the context of gearing up for the 2027 presidential election.

“Some people thought by now I would be tired and sleepy since I arrived here on time; thank you, ADC,” Tinubu remarked, referencing the political backdrop shaped by his opposition.

As he anticipates the upcoming election, Tinubu acknowledged the importance of grassroots mobilization efforts spearheaded by his support groups. He emphasized their ability to foster a robust organizational network that would allow him to rest easy.

The President commended the CityBoy Movement for introducing an innovative approach to political mobilization by establishing a sustainable structure beyond traditional crowd gathering at political events. “You did not just gather people; you built a structure, millions of real, verifiable members,” he stated, highlighting the movement’s extensive reach across Nigeria.

Tinubu noted that the group’s structure extends from state levels down to local governments, wards, and polling units. “You have a presence in every state, every local government, every ward, down to the polling units,” he said.

He also praised the movement’s efforts to engage with young Nigerians through initiatives like its call center and community outreach program, CityBoy Care. “You drilled down; a call center that speaks to young Nigerians every day and listens to whatever their community needs,” he explained.

The President characterized the movement’s activities as a demonstration of structured grassroots engagement rather than mere publicity efforts. He expressed confidence that their responsiveness to community needs has strengthened his belief in the effectiveness of their political mobilization as the election approaches.

With such grassroots initiatives in place, Tinubu remarked that he could return home and “sleep soundly,” assured of their support and outreach capabilities.
