‘Poor folks shouldn’t have children’ – Actress Ms. DSF

Nigerian actress and DJ Dorcas Shola Fapson, widely known as Ms. DSF, recently expressed her views on the topic of parenthood among financially unstable individuals during an appearance on the “In My Opinion” podcast.
Ms. DSF stated her opposition to the idea of individuals with limited financial resources having children, arguing that it can negatively impact both the parents and their offspring. “Poor people shouldn’t have kids. I don’t think it is fair to the children. It is not fair to the family. It is not fair to you,” she said.
She shared a personal anecdote about a cousin who has five children but has struggled financially since the birth of her first child. “Every week, she is requesting for financial assistance for school fees and feeding. It is so unfair. Why have kids when you don’t have means to sustain them?” Ms. DSF emphasized.
Reflecting on her own upbringing in a modest household, Ms. DSF affirmed her commitment to ensuring that her future children would not face similar hardships. She encouraged potential parents to consider their financial capabilities before deciding to expand their families.
