Sowore accuses police of downplaying attack in Ekiti

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), has accused the Ekiti State Police Command of minimizing the details of an attack on him and his campaign team in Ado-Ekiti. Sowore criticized the police’s characterization of the incident as a “minor altercation.”
In a post on X, Sowore stated that Commissioner of Police Falade Adegoroye Michael personally visited the scene and witnessed the injuries sustained by his team. He expressed frustration over the police command’s portrayal of the event, asserting that they were victims of a violent assault rather than merely engaging in an altercation.
“There was no altercation! We were attacked!” Sowore stated emphatically.
Sowore alleged that the commissioner was aware of the seriousness of their injuries despite the police command’s description of them as minor. He also mentioned a video that purportedly shows the commissioner leaving the emergency room after examining the injuries sustained by his team. Additionally, Sowore raised concerns regarding allegations of the commissioner’s involvement in the incident, calling the situation “despicable.”
