Lagos agency responds to viral sexual assault video, begins investigation

Lagos State Agency Aware of Video Alleging Sexual Assault

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has confirmed its awareness of a video circulating on social media in which a young woman details her experience of sexual assault at her home.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the agency indicated that it is actively working to reach the survivor to offer immediate support and assess her situation. “Our team has initiated contact through available channels and will continue efforts to establish communication,” the statement noted.

The DSVA urged anyone with credible information that could assist in safely locating the survivor to reach out via direct message on its official social media platforms.

The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding domestic and sexual violence. It emphasized that sexual assault is a crime, and all survivors are entitled to protection, care, support, and justice.

The agency assured the public that all reports will be handled with confidentiality and urgency and encouraged survivors to come forward. Further updates from the DSVA will be provided as necessary.
