Osun NUJ elects Aboderin as Chairman

Nigerian Union of Journalists Elects New Leadership in Osun State
OSOGBO, Nigeria — The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Osun State Council has elected Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin as its new chairman. The election, held on Tuesday at the NUJ Press Centre, concluded with Aboderin securing a decisive victory over his opponent, Sofiu Abdulganiyu.
Election presiding officer Ronke Samo, Vice Chairman of the NUJ South West Zone representing the NUJ President Alhassan Yahaya, announced that Aboderin received 136 votes, compared to Abdulganiyu’s 98 votes.
In addition to the chairmanship, the election results announced that Lekan Akindoju was elected as Secretary, garnering 122 votes, while his rival, Lateef Dada, received 112 votes.
A total of 233 NUJ members were accredited to participate in the election. Saheed Adegboye was elected unopposed as Treasurer, obtaining 232 votes with one void ballot.
Observers at the election included several prominent figures, such as Olawale Olanrewaju, Chairman of the NUJ Ogun Council; Seye Ojo, National Trustee of the NUJ South West Zone; and chairpersons from various councils, including Abdulrazaq Alege, Kayode Babatunde of Ekiti, and Akeem Abass of Oyo.
