Gombe State Police Command Modifies Motorcycle Movement Restrictions During Ramadan
The Gombe State Police Command has announced an extension of motorcycle movement hours from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. during Ramadan and beyond.
In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Buhari Abdullahi explained that the decision resulted from extensive security consultations. The adjustments aim to accommodate increased religious and social activities associated with Ramadan and the period that follows.
“Through this change, the Command reaffirms its commitment to supporting heightened communal engagements during this time,” Abdullahi stated.
Commissioner of Police Umar Ahmed Chuso assured residents of the Command’s dedication to maintaining law and order, despite the extended movement hours. He emphasized that measures are in place to ensure public safety while supporting community celebrations.
Chuso mentioned that adequate security protocols would safeguard worshippers, commuters, and residents throughout the fasting period and afterward.
Motorcyclists are urged to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and safety guidelines. Authorities advised riders to obey all traffic laws, avoid reckless riding, ensure proper registration, and carry valid identification. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
The Command expressed gratitude to religious leaders, community elders, and residents for their cooperation during the consultation process, reiterating its commitment to uphold public safety while respecting cultural and religious traditions.
