ICPC Launches Phase 8 of Project Tracking in Katsina
KATSINA, Nigeria – The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has initiated Phase 8 of its Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Exercise, focusing on 39 projects valued at N13.5 billion.
Ludam Samuel, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner for Katsina State, announced the launch in a statement on Friday. The exercise encompasses all three senatorial districts and their respective federal constituencies.
Samuel emphasized that this initiative reflects the commission’s dedication to ensuring transparency, accountability, and the judicious use of public funds.
The tracking team is collaborating with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) and media representatives to assess the value for money and compliance with project specifications.
To date, the team has inspected several health facility projects in Katsina metropolis and key road projects in Funtua and Kankia. They also monitored water supply schemes in Kurfi, Dutsin-Ma, Mashi, and Dutsi to verify their execution and operational status.
In the education sector, the team evaluated school projects in Kafur, Sandamu, Daura, and Mai’Adua to assess their quality and impact. Additionally, they reviewed the installation of solar-powered street lights and various empowerment programs throughout the state.
Samuel reaffirmed that this exercise is part of the ICPC’s broader mandate to ensure the proper execution of constituency and executive projects funded by public resources, aiming to deliver tangible benefits to citizens. He reiterated the commission’s commitment to enhancing oversight and promoting integrity in public service delivery.
