Another fire outbreak hits Taraba within hours

Residents of Jalingo Face New Fire Outbreak Following Earlier Incident

JALINGO, Taraba State — Residents of Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, experienced renewed anxiety on Monday after a fire outbreak occurred in the city just hours after a previous incident.

The latest fire erupted around 2:08 p.m. at Baba Ya’u CBN Bypass, shortly following a similar occurrence in the Magami area earlier in the day.

The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Taraba State Command, confirmed the incident in a statement, indicating that personnel were promptly dispatched to respond to the distress call.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Sylvanus Mikailu, initial investigation suggested that the fire spread into a residential compound due to bush burning in the vicinity. The blaze affected a three-bedroom apartment belonging to Alhaji ASK Mai Tulare, which was used for residential purposes.

Upon receiving the emergency call from ASFII Nurudeen Usman, firefighters were quickly mobilized under the direction of ASFII Solomon Bello. The crew conducted a rapid assessment upon arrival and initiated firefighting efforts using one medium jet of water from Fire Appliance FFS 206, operated by FA Auwal Muhammad.

No casualties were reported during the incident, and the quick action of the fire service effectively contained the flames and prevented further damage to surrounding buildings. It was noted that properties valued at approximately ₦10 million were protected as a result of the firefighters’ swift response.

The Federal Fire Service emphasized its dedication to protecting lives and property through effective emergency response. The command also urged residents to adopt fire safety measures, including the installation of basic firefighting equipment in homes and businesses, to help manage incidents prior to the arrival of fire services.
