Nollywood Actress Eucharia Anunobi Reflects on Iconic Role in ‘Glamour Girls 2’

Veteran actress Eucharia Anunobi has shared insights into her casting for the critically acclaimed film “Glamour Girls 2,” a role she obtained nearly three decades ago.

During a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Anunobi recounted her experience auditioning for the part of Anita, a character considered unconventional at the time. She noted that the payment offered by the producer was substantial, even by today’s standards.

“When I accepted the role of Anita, the producer asked what I wanted to be paid. I mentioned my figure, expecting negotiation, but he agreed without hesitation,” Anunobi stated. “I later wished I had asked for more, as the amount at that time was significant. Some contemporary actors do not earn that much.”

When pressed for the exact amount, she chose not to disclose the figure.

Anunobi also addressed the film’s famous bathtub scene with co-star Zack Orji, dispelling rumors that the two engaged in any off-screen intimacy. “In the scene, I raised my leg onto his shoulder and leaned closer to him. Many assumed something more occurred, but it was purely acting,” she explained. The actress revealed she received additional compensation for filming that controversial scene.

Anunobi’s reflections illustrate her enduring legacy in Nigeria’s film industry and the evolving landscape of Nollywood.
