Tragic Accidents Claim Lives of Two Ebem Ohafia Residents
EBEM OHAFIA, Abia State — The Ebem Ohafia community in the Ohafia local government area was engulfed in grief this week following the deaths of two local residents in separate accidents.
Mr. Thompson Kalu, 34, died Sunday night when a truck, reportedly operating without headlights, collided with him while he was riding his motorcycle. Witnesses say Kalu sustained severe head injuries and succumbed to his injuries at the scene before he could be transported to the hospital.
The second victim, identified as Uma Orji, also known as Ome Ego, passed away Monday morning in a tragic lone accident. Reports indicate that while he was riding in a truck, it suddenly overturned, resulting in his death.
At the time of this report, official statements from the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigerian Police Force regarding the incidents had not been released.
Community leaders expressed their condolences following the tragedies. Ezie Ukoha Kalu, the paramount ruler of the Ebem Ohafia kingdom, along with the Ezie-in-Council and the Ebem Ohafia Development Union (EODU), described the deaths as a profound shock.
In a statement issued by Ifeanyi Okali, the Public Relations Officer for the EODU, the community mourned the loss of two hardworking individuals who contributed significantly to their families and society. “The unfortunate incidents have thrown the entire Ebem Ohafia community into mourning,” the statement read.
As the community continues to grapple with this loss, they remember Kalu and Orji for their dedication and commitment to their loved ones.
