ADC: ‘Don’t celebrate yet’ — Atiku cautions after S-Court backs Mark leadership

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has cautioned Nigerians against premature celebrations following the Supreme Court’s confirmation of Senator David Mark as the leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He emphasized that significant political challenges remain ahead.

Abubakar’s statement reflects a transition from legal confirmation to strategic political mobilization, as the opposition seeks to leverage this judicial victory in preparation for the 2027 elections.

In his remarks, he described the Supreme Court ruling as both a validation of the ADC’s leadership and a call for persistent national engagement.

“While we welcome the Supreme Court’s affirmation of Senator David Mark and our party’s leadership, we must not fall into complacency,” Abubakar stated. “This victory belongs to Nigerians, those who refuse to surrender their future. Our journey to reclaim and rebuild our country is just beginning.”

He also urged supporters to remain vigilant and actively involved as political tensions escalate. “We thank them and encourage their steadfastness because the struggle is far from over. Let us remember this enduring truth: eternal vigilance is the price of liberty,” he added.

The Supreme Court ruling is expected to stabilize the ADC after months of internal conflict, allowing the party to refocus on strategy, alliances, and grassroots engagement.
