Kebbi NOA urges Nigerians to remain calm over rising fuel prices

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) of Kebbi State has urged residents to remain calm amid recent fluctuations in the retail price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

Muhammed Nasir Karofi, the Director of NOA in Kebbi, made this appeal in a statement released in Birnin Kebbi.

Karofi attributed the price changes to varying international crude oil prices, shifts in foreign exchange rates, and other market factors within the deregulated downstream petroleum sector. He noted that similar price increases and inflationary trends are occurring in neighboring West African countries.

Acknowledging the strain that rising petrol prices impose on households and small businesses, Karofi explained that the Federal Government’s decision to remove fuel subsidies aims to alleviate fiscal pressures and redirect resources toward infrastructure development, security, education, and social welfare.

He also highlighted that the Kebbi State Government has implemented strategies to mitigate the impact of rising costs. These measures include support for public transportation, healthcare interventions, agricultural assistance, and welfare programs for vulnerable populations.

In conclusion, Karofi called on community leaders, civil society organizations, youth groups, and citizens to remain patient and support efforts to address the ongoing economic challenges.
