AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Super Eagles to discover opponents May 19


Nigeria’s Super Eagles will learn their group stage opponents for the qualifiers of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday, May 19, according to a report by DAILY POST.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that a total of 48 countries, including co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, will participate in the qualifying rounds. Teams will be organized into 12 groups of four, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the final tournament.

The 2027 competition is set to commence with its opening match on Saturday, June 19, 2027, while the final is scheduled for Saturday, July 17, 2027. CAF has yet to confirm the host nation for both the opening match and the final.

In related news, the Super Eagles are expected to finish in third place at the AFCON 2025 finals, which will be held in Morocco.
