Suspected Armed Herdsmen Attack Benue Community; Casualties Reported
Olimini, Benue State — Several individuals are feared dead, and approximately 30 others are reported missing following recent attacks attributed to suspected armed herdsmen in Ohimini Local Government Area.
Sources indicate that the attackers initially invaded the Ochobo community, resulting in two fatalities. An attempt to target Agadagba community was reportedly thwarted by local residents.
However, the gunmen returned on Saturday evening and opened fire on Agadagba, leading to multiple casualties. Accounts from a resident, who spoke under condition of anonymity, describe a sudden onslaught that forced many to flee into nearby bushes.
“They came shooting sporadically. Many people were killed, while several others escaped into the bush. As I speak with you, about 30 people are still missing, and we don’t know whether they are alive or dead,” the resident stated.
The situation remains urgent as community members seek information about their missing friends and family.
