Content creators to face prosecution for using EFCC name, logo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a warning to individuals and content creators regarding the unauthorized use of its name, logo, uniforms, and other official identifiers in skits and online productions.

The agency’s caution follows an increase in instances where creators have featured the EFCC in comedic and other digital content without explicit permission. In a video posted on X, the EFCC noted that these portrayals often misrepresent its values and operational standards.

“It has come to our attention that some individuals and content creators are using the name, logo, and likeness of the EFCC in skits and other media content,” the EFCC stated. “Many of these skits misrepresent our values and standard operating procedures. The EFCC has not authorized any such use and does not endorse or sponsor any comedy, drama, or online content that utilizes our identity without formal consent.”

The commission emphasized the necessity for prior written approval before using its identifiers and warned that legal action could be taken against violators. “The public is hereby advised to cease and desist from using our name, logo, uniforms, or any identifying elements in skits or promotional content without prior written approval,” the agency reiterated.

In its statement, the EFCC underscored the importance of protecting its identity and reiterated the potential legal repercussions for unauthorized usage.
