EFCC recovers N27m for FUNAAB after 15 years property dispute

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Recovers N27 Million for Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully recovered N27 million belonging to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). The funds were entangled in a protracted dispute involving estate agents linked to a property transaction.
Vice Chancellor Olusola Babatunde Kehinde announced that the amount was originally paid in 2011 for properties designated to serve as the university’s liaison office and guest house in Abuja. However, complications related to administration and legal matters hindered the university from taking possession of the buildings.
Attempts to address the situation proved ineffective, which led FUNAAB to seek the assistance of the EFCC. Following a two-year investigation, the anti-graft agency recovered the funds and remitted them to the university in April 2026.
Kehinde noted that individuals implicated in the transaction have been charged to court by the EFCC. He commended the agency for its role in securing the recovery, stating, “The successful recovery is not only a significant institutional achievement for FUNAAB, but also part of the EFCC’s commendable success story in safeguarding public resources.”
