EPL: Arsenal eye top spot as Newcastle seek to avoid back-to-back defeats

Arsenal to Face Newcastle United in Crucial Premier League Clash
Arsenal will host Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening in a highly anticipated Premier League match, both teams seeking redemption after recent defeats.
In their last outings, Arsenal suffered a 2-1 loss to Manchester City, while Newcastle fell to Bournemouth by the same scoreline. Historically, the Gunners have had the upper hand in their recent encounters, having won the reverse fixture 2-1 at St. James’ Park last September.
Currently, Arsenal occupies the second spot in the Premier League standings. A victory against Newcastle, who sit in 14th place, could propel them to the top of the table, temporarily overtaking Manchester City.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that forward Bukayo Saka is included in the squad after recovering from an Achilles injury that sidelined him for the last five matches. Additionally, defender Riccardo Calafiori may also return to contention.
However, Arteta will be without Jurrien Timber, who is still recuperating from a groin injury sustained in a match against Everton last month. Mikel Merino of Newcastle is also unavailable due to a foot injury he has been dealing with since January.
For Newcastle, manager Eddie Howe faces further challenges as star player Anthony Gordon is out with a hip injury. Tino Livramento may have played his last match of the season after suffering a hamstring injury against Bournemouth.
Joelinton, who received his 10th yellow card of the season in the recent match, is suspended. Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth remain sidelined with long-term knee injuries. Captain Bruno Guimaraes had a week of training and could feature against Arsenal.
As both teams aim to recover from their recent setbacks, the match at Emirates Stadium promises to be a pivotal moment in their respective seasons.
