FRSC Ogun State Apprehends 321 Drivers During Traffic Enforcement Operation

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State Sector Command has arrested 321 drivers for various traffic violations as part of its enforcement initiative, dubbed “Operation Guduma.” This five-day operation, which commenced on Monday and concluded on Friday, focused on major highways and key corridors throughout the state.

According to Public Relations Officer Odunsi Afolabi, the operation aimed to address offenses related to fake diplomatic number plates, overloading, improper mixing of passengers and goods, and the movement of inadequately secured containers. These violations, he noted, pose significant risks to public safety and contribute to road traffic accidents.

Afolabi provided a detailed account of the violations recorded during the operation: 185 overloaded vehicles were apprehended, 127 individuals were arrested for number plate violations, four cases of unlatched containers were sanctioned, three incidents of mixed loading were recorded, and two dangerous driving violations were documented.

The operation was executed under strict compliance with directives from the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja, with oversight provided by Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) JO Asaolu and coordination from Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi.

At the conclusion of the operation on May 22, 2026, the Command reported notable enforcement outcomes aimed at enhancing road safety and curbing dangerous traffic violations in the state.

Commander Ogunjobi praised the professionalism displayed by personnel during the special intervention patrol. He emphasized that while the special operation has officially ended, ongoing enforcement and surveillance against targeted offenses will persist across the state.

He reiterated that the use of fake number plates is a significant security concern for residents and road users alike, and the command remains committed to identifying and prosecuting offenders.

Ogunjobi urged motorists, fleet operators, transport unions, and the general public to adhere to traffic regulations and safety standards to help reduce accidents and promote safer road conditions for all.
