LaLiga: Where’s your Ballon d’Or, shut up and play – Gavi tells Vinicius Junior during confrontation

Barcelona’s Gavi Provokes Vinicius Junior in Tense El Clásico Encounter

Barcelona midfielder Gavi reportedly provoked Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior during the recent El Clásico match at Camp Nou, which culminated in a 2–0 victory for Barcelona and secured their La Liga title.

The match, notable for its intensity, featured several instances of players from both teams attempting to unsettle each other. Gavi and Vinicius were at the center of a heated exchange during the contest.

Following the match, Gavi downplayed the incident, stating he would not dwell on it, noting that events on the field should remain there.

New footage from the match, shared on social media platform X by Barca Universal, has emerged, shedding light on the confrontation. In the video, Gavi appears to have provoked Vinicius by inquiring about his standing in the upcoming Ballon d’Or.

Despite having played a pivotal role in Real Madrid’s successes last season, Vinicius has found himself ranked behind Manchester City’s Rodri in the 2024 Ballon d’Or standings. The winger chose not to attend the ceremony after determining he would not be awarded the honor, a decision supported by Real Madrid.

In the exchange captured in the video, Gavi reportedly asked Vinicius, “Hey, where’s your Ballon d’Or?” Vinicius answered, “What do you want, mate? I’m keeping my cool.” Gavi then urged him to “shut up and play,” suggesting a more focused approach.

This season, Vinicius has tallied 21 goals and 14 assists across 51 appearances. However, it has been a challenging campaign for Real Madrid, with the team undergoing two managerial changes and facing internal strife among players.
