NRC increases Lagos-Ibadan train trips ahead of Sallah

Nigerian Railway Corporation Increases Train Operations for Sallah Holiday
LAGOS — The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) announced on Saturday a temporary increase in train services along the Lagos-Ibadan corridor in anticipation of increased passenger traffic for the upcoming Sallah celebration.
In a statement issued by Chief Public Relations Officer Callistus Unyimadu, the NRC outlined that, starting Tuesday, May 26, the number of train trips on this route would rise from the typical four to six. This adjustment is intended to accommodate the surge of travelers visiting family and friends during the festive period.
Trains will depart from Lagos at 7:45 a.m., 1:40 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., while departures from Ibadan are scheduled for 8:00 a.m., 10:50 a.m., and 4:30 p.m.
“This increase in services is a temporary measure for the Sallah travel period,” the statement noted. Following the celebrations, the NRC confirmed that the regular Tuesday schedule of four trips would resume.
Additionally, the NRC adjusted its previously announced six-trip schedule on Thursdays, stating that only four train trips will operate on Thursday, May 28. The usual six-trip schedule is set to return the following week after the holiday period.
