NYSC sanctions 12 Osun corps members

Osun State Extends Service Year for Corps Members Following Violations
Osogbo, Nigeria — The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has extended the service year for 12 corps members in Osun State due to violations committed during the 2025 Batch A Stream II program. The announcement was made by NYSC Coordinator Ekeng Ita Kubiangha on Thursday, during a certificate distribution ceremony for corps members who successfully completed their mandatory service.
Kubiangha noted that the disciplinary actions were implemented in accordance with the NYSC Bye-Laws, which govern the conduct of corps members throughout their service.
A total of 2,132 corps members were honored with Certificates of National Service at the ceremony. Kubiangha also revealed that 27 corps members had absconded from their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) without authorization during the service year.
“The sanctions were necessary to uphold discipline and preserve the integrity of the national service scheme across the country,” Kubiangha said, while commending the majority of outgoing corps members for their dedication to their communities throughout the year.
He emphasized that the NYSC remains a vital platform for personal and national development, urging the discharged corps members to uphold values of patriotism, integrity, and discipline learned during their service.
Kubiangha advised the corps members to safeguard their Certificates of National Service, describing them as crucial for future career opportunities. He also cautioned against engaging in partisan political activities that could jeopardize their safety ahead of the upcoming state elections.
He encouraged the former corps members to focus on self-development and seek economic opportunities to ensure self-reliance after completing their national service. Kubiangha reiterated the importance of remaining security-conscious and avoiding actions that might threaten public peace or personal safety.
