Rivers Assembly summons state Accountant Gen, Education Commissioner, PAMO University officials
The Rivers State House of Assembly has summoned key officials from PAMO University of Medical Sciences, including the state Accountant General, the Commissioner for Education, and the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Education, to provide testimony before an Ad-hoc Committee on September 16.
The summons follows Sections 128 and 129 of the Nigerian Constitution, which authorize legislative oversight of state institutions.
House Speaker Martin Amaewhule emphasized the importance of compliance with the summons, warning that failure to appear would not be taken lightly.
This action occurs in the wake of the Assembly’s recent decision to reject a proposed allocation of N6 billion for PAMO University in the state’s 2026 budget. Amaewhule stated that the Assembly intends to investigate whether previous funding received by the university was appropriately utilized for its intended purposes.
