Security Guard Arrested for Alleged Theft of Company Property
OWODE-EGBA, Nigeria — A 32-year-old security guard, Friday Ayuba, has been arrested for allegedly stealing motor spare parts from his employer in Ita-Asu village, located within the Obafemi Owode local government area.
The arrest was conducted on Saturday by operatives from the Owode-Egba division, following a report from the company’s manager regarding the theft.
According to authorities, Ayuba is suspected of removing several spare parts from the company’s premises. Items recovered during the investigation included four air controls, two air boosters, two engine seats, and two fuel pumps, all confirmed as property of the company.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi stated that the manager notified law enforcement on May 30, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m. Babaseyi noted that Ayuba had previously been apprehended by the Quick Response Squad of the Ogun State Command while allegedly attempting to transport the stolen items at the Sagamu Interchange along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was in possession of several motor spare parts suspected to have been unlawfully removed from the company’s premises. The suspect reportedly admitted to the theft during questioning,” Babaseyi said. Detectives secured the recovered items as evidence.
The suspect is currently in custody and is expected to face charges once the investigation concludes.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the proactive measures taken by the company’s management and the Quick Response Squad, which facilitated the theft recovery and arrest. He emphasized the commitment of the police force to safeguard businesses and residents through intelligence-driven policing and proactive crime prevention strategies.
Ojajuni urged both employers and the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
