Suspected Bandits Attack Security Base in Oyo State

Suspected bandits carried out an attack on the base of Operation Burst, a joint security outfit, in Oyo State early Sunday morning. The incident occurred along the Igbeti/Igboho road, between the Olorunsogo and Oorelope local government areas, between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Operation Burst, established by the late former governor Abiola Ajimobi, comprises personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Army.

Kazeem Olayanju, Chairman of the Olorunsogo local government area, confirmed the attack in a telephone conversation, stating that no casualties were reported. However, he noted that the assailants stole a generator and a motorcycle, and they set fire to the security post and an abandoned vehicle located at the site.

Olayanju remarked, “The information is true. But there is no casualty. They burnt the security post we constructed for them. They also set ablaze an abandoned vehicle there.”
