Troops Arrest Two Soldiers Following Assault Incident in Jos

Jos, Plateau State — Two soldiers have been arrested by units from Operation Enduring Peace in connection with an assault that resulted in injuries to three vigilante members and a woman in the Jos South Local Government Area.

The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. Thursday in the Kugiya area of Bukuru, following a dispute concerning the confiscation of a motorcycle and the presence of armed individuals, according to a post on X by security analyst Zagozala Makama.

Troops from Sector 6, part of Operation Safe Haven, responded to an emergency call and found that three members of a local vigilante group and a woman identified as Mrs. Kaneng Nyang Bot had sustained injuries during the altercation.

The arrested soldiers have been identified as Private Adam Saheed of the 123 Special Forces Battalion, who was reportedly on leave, and Gunner Mohammed Shuaibu of the 351 Artillery Regiment, who is attached to the 376 Artillery Regiment in Damaturu. Shuaibu’s leave had expired on April 24.

Initial investigations suggest that the confrontation arose during an attempt to seize the motorcycle involved. The soldiers are currently in custody and will undergo disciplinary and administrative processes.
