Mbaye Diagne Predicts Victor Osimhen Could Break Super Lig Goalscoring Record

Former Senegal international Mbaye Diagne has expressed confidence that Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has the potential to surpass his long-standing Turkish Super Lig goalscoring record.

Diagne established the current record during the 2018-2019 season, scoring 30 goals while playing for Kasımpaşa and Galatasaray. He achieved this mark by netting 20 goals in 17 matches for Kasımpaşa in the first half of the season, before adding another 10 goals in 12 appearances for Galatasaray after his mid-season transfer.

In a recent interview with Turkish newspaper Vatan, Diagne shared his perspective on the possibility of his record being broken. “I’m happy, very happy. I have scored a lot of goals. I’m also happy to be the top scorer here,” he stated. However, he expressed a willingness to accept the record being surpassed only by Osimhen, suggesting, “Nobody has broken my goal record in the Super League. They probably won’t be able to. I could only accept it if my friend Osimhen broke it, but it is impossible for anyone else to break it.”

This season, Osimhen has recorded 15 goals for Galatasaray, while his Nigerian teammate Paul Onuachu leads the team with 22 goals.
