Two Kidnapping Victims Rescued in Bauchi State Operation
Two individuals abducted by suspected bandits were rescued on Thursday during a joint security operation in Gwamnare Forest, located in the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the rescue in a formal statement.
The operation was initiated following an directive from the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, who ordered tactical units to enhance their efforts in communities recently affected by kidnappings to ensure the safe retrieval of victims. According to the statement, the security team responded to multiple kidnapping incidents that had occurred in the villages of Dogon Ruwa and Rafin Chiyawa, situated near Gwamnare Forest.
Operatives from the Bauchi State Police Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), along with conventional police personnel and members of the Forestry Guards conducted the operation after receiving a situation report at the Ningi Division around 10:00 a.m.
During the operation, the authorities rescued two victims identified as Alhaji Yahaya, 50, from Masallachi Hamlet in Dogon Ruwa Village, and Alhaji Kabiru from Gwamnare Forest. Both individuals were reported to be unharmed, and no security personnel incurred injuries during the operation.
Efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue additional victims who are believed to remain in captivity within the forest. CP Aliyu commended the security operatives for their courage and professionalism, reaffirming the command’s commitment to eradicating kidnappers and violent criminals from forests and other hideouts across the state.
“We are dedicated to removing kidnappers and other criminal elements from every part of Bauchi State,” CP Aliyu stated. “Our operations will continue until lasting peace and security are restored.” He also assured residents of Dogon Ruwa, Rafin Chiyawa, and nearby communities that security operations will be maintained to protect lives and property.
