Zamfara State Police Recover Stolen Infant Amid Human Trafficking Investigation

The Zamfara State Police Command has made significant progress in investigating a case involving alleged human trafficking, baby factory operations, and the theft of a 10-day-old infant from the General Hospital in Kaura Namoda.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Yazid Abubakar, the Command’s spokesperson, announced the developments in a statement issued on Saturday. The theft was reported to the Kaura Namoda Division three days prior to the infant’s recovery.

In accordance with standard investigative procedures, hospital staff on duty during the incident were summoned for questioning to assist in the ongoing inquiry.

On May 15, 2026, at approximately 8:35 a.m., law enforcement officials recovered the stolen infant in a nearby hamlet, the name of which has not been disclosed. Authorities reported that the baby was found unharmed and has since been returned to the biological parents.

One suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, is currently in police custody while the investigation continues.

Zamfara State Commissioner of Police Ahmad Bello praised the community for its timely information that facilitated the successful recovery of the child. He emphasized the police command’s commitment to addressing all forms of criminal activity throughout the state and assured that further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
