Delta State Authorities Arrest Two Suspects During Traffic Operation
WARRI, Delta State — Two suspected criminals were arrested during a stop-and-search operation conducted by the Safer Highway Patrol on July 25, 2026. The incident occurred along the Agbarho-Warri road.
The suspects, identified as 46-year-old Omini Ezeri and 42-year-old Chinedum Wagbara, were traveling in a gray Mercedes-Benz ML SUV with the registration number AAA 604 JZ when officers intercepted them. A third occupant, identified as Godknows Ifreke, managed to flee the scene, escaping into a nearby swamp.
During a search of the vehicle, law enforcement officials recovered two locally fabricated Beretta pistols loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition. Additionally, approximately 200 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, a walkie-talkie, a dagger, a grinder, and two sophisticated mobile phones were also found.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe confirmed the arrests, emphasizing the significant operational success achieved by the Safer Highway Patrol. “The suspects are in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing individual,” Edafe stated.
The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism. He reiterated the commitment of the Delta State Police Command to create an environment hostile to criminal activity, particularly concerning illegal firearms and drug trafficking.
Oyeniyi also encouraged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing law enforcement efforts in the region.
