Two Police Officers Killed in Road Crash in Kaduna State

KADUNA, Nigeria — Two police officers were killed Friday morning in a road accident while on duty on Ali Akilu Road in the Kawo area of Kaduna State.

The collision occurred around 7:00 a.m. at the General Hassan Katsina U-turn, commonly referred to as Water U-turn. A vehicle, reportedly driven by a military officer, struck the officers at their duty post, resulting in immediate fatal injuries due to the force of the impact.

The Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the incident, stating that the officers were performing their official duties when the crash occurred. “The accident happened at the Water U-turn along Ali Akilu Way, Kawo, when a car driven by a military personnel rammed into two police officers who were at their duty post,” Hassan said.

State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, expressed condolences on behalf of the command to the families of the deceased officers.

Initial investigations revealed that the driver involved in the crash is a military personnel, who sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Kaduna under security supervision.

The police command promised a thorough and transparent investigation in collaboration with other security agencies and urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations to prevent future accidents.
