Presidency blasts Atiku over promise to restore fuel subsidy

The Presidency has criticized Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), for his recent comments about restoring the fuel subsidy, labeling them as “hypocrisy and deceit.”
In a recent interview, Atiku stated that he would consider reinstating the fuel subsidy abolished by President Bola Tinubu if he were to win the presidency in 2027.
Responding to Atiku’s remarks, presidential spokesperson Sunday Dare issued a statement accusing the former vice president of attempting to manipulate the electorate ahead of the upcoming general elections.
“Atiku Abubakar’s vow to reinstate the fuel subsidy is riddled with hypocrisy and deceit,” Dare stated. “This is an unpardonable attempt to manipulate public sentiment, crafted to mislead unsuspecting Nigerians into supporting your candidacy.”
Dare further asserted that the progress being made across various sectors of the economy would be jeopardized if such promises were acted upon. He expressed confidence that the proposed reinstatement would not occur and urged “all good men of conscience” to stand against Atiku’s agenda.
