Four Drug Suspects Arrested in Kano
KANO, Nigeria — The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended four individuals suspected of involvement in illicit drug trafficking.
The arrests occurred during a covert operation conducted by the corps’ Counter Terrorism Unit in the Dorayi Babba area of Gwale Local Government Area. The suspects, identified as 35-year-old Abubakar Abdullahi, 25-year-old Rabiu Baffa, 35-year-old Aminu Lawan, and 33-year-old Ibrahim Idris, are all residents of Gaida in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
The NSCDC reported that the arrests followed credible intelligence and subsequent surveillance in the Gaida community.
In the operation, agents recovered a variety of items, including four sachets of Pregabalin 300mg capsules, commonly referred to as “PG,” dozens of Diazepam tablets (locally known as “Fara”), three tubes of Oshin Solution (also called “Sholisho”), and a substantial quantity of suspected marijuana, comprised of three large packs and 20 parcels.
Mohammed Hassan Agalama, the Kano State Commandant for the NSCDC, stated that preliminary investigations have been completed. The suspects, along with the recovered items, will be submitted to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano for further investigation and potential legal proceedings.
Agalama emphasized the corps’ commitment to collaborating with other security agencies and stakeholders to address drug-related offenses and maintain public safety in Kano State. He encouraged residents to share credible information regarding suspected drug activities with security personnel, assuring that such reports would be handled confidentially.
