Troops neutralise suspected terrorist in Zamfara

NIGERIA – Troops operating under Sector 2 of the Fansan Yamma mission have neutralized a suspected terrorist during a counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operation in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident was reported by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert focused on the Lake Chad region, in a post on X on Wednesday.
According to military sources, the troops, stationed in the Galadi area of Sokoto State, spotted individuals they suspected to be terrorists on motorcycles attempting to cross a roadway in Shinkafi. The troops engaged the suspects, resulting in the death of one individual while the others managed to flee the scene.
The deceased was identified as wearing a woodland camouflage vest beneath a traditional kaftan. An examination of his mobile phone reportedly uncovered images of him in camouflage attire while holding a PKM machine gun.
Additionally, the troops recovered four mobile phones and a sum of 30,350 Naira from the individual in question.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts by Nigerian security forces to combat terrorist and bandit activities in the North-West region.
