UNL: Why I may not play Bruno Fernandes against Norway – Portugal coach, Jesus
Portugal national team head coach Jorge Jesus indicated that midfielder Bruno Fernandes may miss the upcoming UEFA Nations League match against Norway on Sunday in Oslo.
Fernandes, a 32-year-old player for Manchester United, started and played the full 90 minutes in Portugal’s 1-0 victory over Wales earlier this week. However, he did not participate in Saturday’s training session, raising concerns about his availability for the match against Norway.
Jesus remarked that while all players were available for the Wales match, Fernandes left with a “complicated problem.” He noted that the midfielder has been managing pain from a prior injury sustained at Manchester United and has expressed that it has affected his performance in recent games.
“I prefer not to risk it in this game so that he can be fully fit for the Denmark match,” Jesus said.
In the same group, Norway also recorded a win in their Nations League opener, defeating Denmark 3-2 at home, highlighted by standout performances from Erling Haaland, who scored twice.
