Atiku-Amaechi ticket will end Tinubu’s presidency in 2027 — Bolaji Abdullahi

ADC’s Abdullahi Confident in Atiku-Amaechi Ticket for 2027 Elections

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, expressed strong confidence in the party’s presidential ticket of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi, predicting it will defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

In an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Abdullahi characterized the Atiku-Amaechi partnership as a robust team capable of providing improved leadership compared to the current administration and winning the upcoming presidential election.

He stated that the ADC believes all its presidential aspirants are better suited to govern Nigeria than the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). “We believe that every aspirant on the ADC platform—whether Atiku, Amaechi, or Mohammed Hayatu-Deen—will perform significantly better than President Bola Tinubu,” he remarked.

Abdullahi noted that the selection of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as his running mate has bolstered the ADC’s prospects in the lead-up to the election. He acknowledged the political “shenanigans” that followed Amaechi’s announcement as vice-presidential candidate, indicating that the party was not blindsided by these developments.

He also dismissed worries regarding the party’s readiness for the election. Abdullahi insisted that the ADC would remain on the ballot and was planning to formally introduce its presidential ticket to the public soon. He emphasized that the party had conducted a credible primary election in which Amaechi participated and subsequently accepted the vice-presidential position after losing to Atiku.

Additionally, Abdullahi responded to a recent Federal High Court ruling that directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the ADC along with four other political parties. Justice Peter Lifu ordered the deregistration due to alleged failures to meet constitutional and electoral criteria.

Abdullahi rejected the court’s judgment, deeming it an assault on democracy and an example of judicial misconduct. “We reject it in its totality,” he asserted, citing the thousands of candidates who have contested elections under the ADC banner, affirming the party’s status as a legitimate political entity.

As political parties consolidate ahead of the 2027 elections, the race is shaping up to include President Bola Tinubu of the APC, Atiku Abubakar of the ADC, and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), setting the stage for a competitive presidential contest.
