Police begin operation “Kosaye” in Ogun, Lagos, arrest 88 suspects, rescue 5 kidnapped victims

Police Operations Lead to Arrests and Rescues in Ogun and Lagos States
Ogun and Lagos state police forces arrested 88 suspects and rescued five kidnapping victims during a recent operation dubbed “Kosaye,” which translates to “no chance” in English.
The joint effort, which included bush combing exercises across Ogun, Lagos, and extending into Oyo State, resulted in the apprehension of 84 suspects—75 men and 9 women—this past week.
At a news conference on Saturday, Ogun State Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni explained that the operation is part of an initiative from Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu, aimed at eradicating criminal activity in the region.
Ojajuni reported that the kidnapping victims were rescued from a location along the Ore-Ogbere road, where the police also killed four suspected kidnappers and arrested an additional four individuals during the operation.
“The formal launch of Operation Kosaye in Lagos and Ogun states signifies there is no space for criminality,” Ojajuni said. He highlighted that the operation seeks to dismantle banditry and other criminal elements while reassuring citizens of their safety.
The Commissioner elaborated on the areas covered during the operation, detailing locations such as Ikeja, Kara Bridge, and Ijebu Ode, where police forces searched for criminal hideouts and illegal activities. Throughout the operation, arms, including AK-47 rifles and locally made pistols, were recovered.
Ojajuni urged residents to remain calm and promptly report any individuals displaying gunshot wounds to authorities.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai also addressed residents’ concerns regarding bandit activity, stating that thorough searches were conducted across various bushes in both Lagos and Ogun states. He affirmed the commitment of the police to ensure public safety and emphasized that the operation is ongoing.
“This exercise will continue as necessary, and we appreciate the support from the governors of both states,” Fatai added, reinforcing the force’s readiness to combat criminal activities.
