Twelve Injured in Clash Between Farmers and Herders in Kano State

WARAWA, Kano State — A clash between farmers from Larabar Gadan Sarki and herders from the communities of Majawa and Karade resulted in twelve injuries on Sunday, local officials reported.

Lamido Sunusi Ahmad, chairman of the Warawa Local Government Area, confirmed the incident in a statement released by his media aide, Musleem Garindau. Ahmad visited the injured at Wudil General Hospital and instructed that the local government cover their medical expenses until they fully recover.

The chairman praised community leaders and security personnel for their prompt response, noting that order has been restored in the affected areas. He urged residents to avoid spreading rumors or engaging in actions that could escalate tensions, emphasizing the importance of dialogue for promoting peaceful coexistence.

Vice Chairman Hon. Ibrahim Abdu Madari described the conflict as involving only indigenous residents of the area. According to reports, the violence began after a cow strayed into a farmer’s field and damaged some crops. Following the farmer’s alleged act of beating the cow, its owner retaliated, leading to a broader confrontation.

Madari reiterated calls for peaceful coexistence and encouraged residents to resolve disputes through dialogue and mutual understanding.
