Ex-Man City defender, Jerome Boateng gets coaching job
Jerome Boateng, the former defender for Manchester City and Bayern Munich, has accepted a new coaching position with Turkish club Trabzonspor.
According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Boateng is set to become the club’s new assistant coach. This appointment comes after the 38-year-old announced his retirement from professional football on September 19, 2025, at the age of 37.
Boateng is best remembered for his successful tenure at Bayern Munich, where he won nine Bundesliga titles, two UEFA Champions League trophies, and five DFB-Pokal titles. He also achieved international acclaim as a member of the German national team, contributing to their victory in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
In addition to his time at Bayern, Boateng has played for several other clubs, including Hertha BSC, Hamburger SV, Olympique Lyon, US Salernitana, and LASK.
