Kano Court Orders Remand of 11 Youths in Police Officer’s Death Case
A Kano Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of 11 youths at a correctional facility following allegations of conspiracy, public disturbance, arson, and the murder of a police officer.
Presiding over the case, Magistrate Auwal Yusuf Sulaiman stated that the suspects are believed to have participated in a conflict over farmland boundaries in the Wudil Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to court documents, law enforcement personnel were dispatched to the area to quell the dispute when the youths allegedly conspired to attack and kill one of the officers. They are also charged with setting fire to property during the altercation.
The court noted that it does not have jurisdiction to hear murder cases and indicated that further legal advice from the state’s authorities would be necessary.
The case has been adjourned until October 15, when the suspects are expected to appear again.
