2026 U-17 WWC: Busari charges Flamingos to avoid complacency against Venezuela

Nigeria will face Venezuela in a quarterfinal match for a spot in the semifinals of the tournament on Sunday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex Pitch 4 in Rabat.
The Nigerian team, known as the Flamingos, secured their position in the last eight by narrowly defeating Mexico 2-1 on Thursday. Meanwhile, Venezuela caused an upset by eliminating one of the tournament favorites, Germany, with a 1-0 victory.
Flamingos coach Busari emphasized the importance of respecting their upcoming opponent. “What I normally say is that every team in the competition is a contender; everyone could be a champion. Venezuela won their game against Germany, so they are a good side. But Nigeria is strong too. Ultimately, it will be decided over 90 minutes, and we will all give our best,” he said in a statement to FIFA.
