Seven Arrested in Ogun State Police Operations

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have detained seven suspects in a series of intelligence-led operations in the Sango-Ota, Owode-Egba, and Agbado areas of the state.

The detainees face charges including armed robbery, housebreaking, theft, conspiracy, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. The suspects range in age from 17 to 28 and include Mubarak Lateef, Pelumi Akintande, Mojeed Sanusi, Damilare Makanjuola, Ezra Modi, Tijani Jubril, and Waris Adebesin.

In a statement released Friday, police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi detailed that the first three suspects were apprehended in Sango-Ota following a reported armed robbery in the Alasia Community. During the operation, police recovered a locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol and an expended cartridge, which they allege were used in the crime.

“The operatives of Sango-Ota Division arrested Pelumi Akintande, 21, Mojeed Sanusi, 28, and Mubarak Lateef, 17, after receiving credible information from community members,” Babaseyi said. “The suspects are accused of participating in an attack on a resident, during which valuables were forcibly taken.”

Additionally, police in Owode-Egba apprehended Damilare Makanjuola, 22, for housebreaking and theft linked to multiple burglary incidents in Sun City Estate, Ofada. Over N100,000 in cash, as well as various electrical items and personal belongings, were reportedly stolen from victims. Recovered items are being secured as evidence.

The Owode-Egba division also arrested 28-year-old Tijani Jubril and 22-year-old Ezra Modi for conspiracy and theft while attempting to dispose of stolen electrical appliances in a sack. The suspects were intercepted near Treasure Island Estate, Awo Village.

In a separate incident, Agbado Division operatives arrested Waris Adebesin, 22, for conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. He was found armed with a knife in a secondary school vicinity, where he was reportedly creating disturbances. Police seized the knife during his arrest.

The swift response by the police is credited with preventing panic and ensuring safety in the area, according to the statement.

Babaseyi noted that all suspects are currently in custody and investigations are ongoing to apprehend additional individuals related to these cases.

State Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the police operatives for their rapid and professional actions and commended the community for their vigilance and timely reporting. He expressed sympathy for the victims and pledged that justice will be pursued diligently.
