Bauchi Police Conduct Raid on Suspected Kidnapper Camp

Bauchi, Nigeria — The Bauchi State Police Command, in conjunction with local security personnel and hunters, conducted a raid on a suspected kidnappers’ camp on Wednesday at Yalwan Mball Mountain in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.

The operation was prompted by credible intelligence suggesting that a suspected kidnapper had been spotted in the area, reportedly riding a motorcycle.

According to a statement from Police Spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib, officers from the Bununu Division, under the command of the Divisional Police Officer, engaged in the operation alongside members of the Danga Security and Special Hunters. Upon encountering the security team, the suspects opened fire but subsequently fled into the bush when police returned fire.

During the raid, the security team recovered a Boxer motorcycle believed to be used in criminal activities, along with three sets of operational uniforms and various items thought to belong to the fleeing suspects.

One individual, identified as 37-year-old Muhammadu Sale, has been arrested in connection with the case. Habib confirmed that Sale is currently in police custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

The police have increased surveillance and monitoring in the area, which Habib noted remains relatively calm.

Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu praised the efforts of the operatives and local security teams for their cooperation. He encouraged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
