EPL: Paul Scholes pinpoints mistakes Arsenal coach Arteta made against Man City

Scholes Critiques Arteta’s Tactics in Arsenal’s Loss to Manchester City

Manchester, England – Paul Scholes, a former Manchester United midfielder, has analyzed the tactical decisions made by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta during his team’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

The match took place at the Etihad Stadium, where goals from Ryan Cherki and Erling Haaland secured the win for City. Scholes offered his insights on “The Good, The Bad & The Football” podcast, highlighting Arteta’s decision to alter his game strategy against Pep Guardiola’s side.

“I think Arteta changed a little bit yesterday, and it’s not always easy to do that when you are going a certain way, playing a certain way,” Scholes said. He noted that the manager opted for a more attacking lineup, which, while exciting, might have been too abrupt.

Scholes suggested that Arteta’s approach lacked continuity, remarking, “You can’t just switch it on and off like that.” He recommended that to better pursue a goal, Arteta should have considered substituting Declan Rice or Martin Zubimendi.

Additionally, Scholes emphasized the importance of keeping Eberechi Eze on the pitch, as he believed the player was making a significant impact in the game. “When you are looking at the game, you are thinking, ‘Eze’s playing well here, Eze is having a big influence on the game,’” Scholes said, referring to the potential reactions from other players regarding Eze’s substitution.

Arsenal will look to regroup as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures following this challenging match against City.
